Smoking In The Cold

I find myself waking up to a blanket of snow falling across the Salt Lake City valley. This may be a familiar sight for you as well. What do you do when you want to enjoy your morning smoke and solitude to get the day started? I usually grab a small stick, jump in my car, and light up to smoke as I drive to work. I understand that for most people, smoking in their car is off the table. What are your options when you want to enjoy that sacred moment?

Lounge

If you live in a state that allows you to go to a cigar lounge, this will be one of your best options. It gives you a chance to check out any new cigars they may have in stock, or find hidden gems. You can also catch up with friends, or meet new ones while there. The downside is that you are limited by the hours of operation, but that is not a deal breaker. I, unfortunately, live in Utah, which has outlawed cigar lounges due to the clean air act law.

Home Lounge

Another great option is to smoke in your own home cigar lounge. This option can be as cheap or expensive as you desire.

Patio

If you have a patio, you can set up an electric or propane heater. Pull out that nice ashtray and accessories you have and light up. The problem with this option is that when the freezing cold wind blows, it can still be a bummer. It is a viable option though, and I have smoked many cigars on my patio.

Garage

The garage is another good, low-cost option for smoking at home. It will give you cover from the wind. Heaters, exhaust fans, and furniture will make this option enjoyable. If you want that interaction as if you were at the lounge, you can invite friends over or use platforms like Discord to smoke with fellow aficionados.

Cigar Lounge Room

This will be the most expensive of the options. If you look on YouTube, content creators will show you elaborate setups of their home bars/ cigar lounges. Some of them are Jeremy Siers, Bearded Moon and many others. They have full setups with humidors, luxury furniture, display shelves and awesome art.

Smoking Shed

This one is also a cool option. It can be as expensive or as affordable as you want. I have seen some that are like tiny house lounges equipped with restrooms, humidors, full bars and televisions.

Smoking RV

Some people have converted their Airstreams into lounges, which have turned out in an amazing way. This is usually done by businesses that use them for events, but it’s also something that can be done for personal use if you have the cash for it.

Ice Fishing Tent

This is one that has become popular over the years. There are YouTube videos of people buying ice fishing tents and turning them into cigar lounges to smoke during the colder months. These can be set up with a heater, chairs, TV and more. It’s a cheaper alternative to building a shed or converting a room into a lounge.

The Car

This is an option that I use often. Yes, there will be a faint smoke smell in there even if you do your best to detail it. At the end of the day, we must decide whether it is worth it or not to run that risk.

Overall, there are options to smoke during the cold months. If there is a desire to escape to a place of solitude to enjoy a cigar away from the distractions of life, we will do it. Comment below on what you do during the colder months. I look forward to hearing your solutions.
