The draw in this stick, while not perfect, does offer an ample smoke output and a pleasant enough resistance. The texture has an intriguing powdery/creamy feel that treats the palate very gently (I barely had to take any sips of my water). The flavors in the first third start off rather quickly and stay beautifully balanced. The retrohale was remarkably smooth and gentle while still delivering a healthy level of flavor and aroma. Burn was decent, and the complexity and nuance were undeniable. I like this one as a early morning smoke or after a breakfast pastry without question! Total smoke time was 70 minutes.
Founded in 2011 by Jon Huber and Mike Conder, the Crowned Heads brand has earned an enthusiastic and dedicated following in the 12 years since they offered their first cigar – boutique favorite Four Kicks. Huber’s story is an old school in which he worked his way up from shipping manager to Director of Marketing of CAO – a course of events essentially set into motion by a cold call. Today, Crowned Heads offers sought after limited edition blends and time tested core offerings crafted with the same independent spirit with which the company was created.
