Rojas Statement

This cigar gave me a wild first half of complexity. Every few puffs was a different flavor (new or revisited). Pretty fun smoke, review wise. A decent smoke that scored well because of a higher rating in complexity and dynamic range, more so in those categories than any others I’ve reviewed thus far. I enjoyed this vitola, burned well despite it’s snug draw on both samples.

Wrapper: Mexican San Andres / Binder: Nicaraguan / Filler: Nicaraguan

Vitola: Corona Gorda / Size: 6 x 46

Factory: Rojas Cigar Factory / Country of Origin: Nicaragua

Matte dark cocoa brown leaf with a light barnyard aroma

Tobacco musk with a hint of cinnamon raisin bread

Snug. Slightly sweet. Rye bready

Red pepper flake and baking spice that turns to a Mexican Hot Chocolate. Very complex and quick changing with flavors. As it mellows it gets roasty with saline mineral, light coffee bean and creeps towards bready at the end of third.

Pepper/spice mellow out, along with the complexity. Remains that saline mineral, earthy, roast from end of first third. End of third hints of peanuts enter with dark tart (cherry) fruit and cola.

Mild pepper peaks back in. Soon changing to a more vegetal, green pepper. Turns rye bready with a slightly sweet cinnamon hit. End of cigar becomes a general roastiness.
