In August of this year, we were among the first to bring you news of three potential projects from Plasencia. They were a possible 2022 World Cup blend, the Year of the Rabbit 2023 dropping in the US in time for the 2022 Holiday season, and a smaller expression of the popular Alma Fuerte Sixto. At the time that article was published, the only information we had about the World Cup 2022 cigar was that the production run would be limited to as few as 3,000 boxes. Considering the sport has an estimated 3.5 billion fans worldwide, there may prove to be more cigar heads who want this cigar than there are cigars to be had.
Today, we’re happy to share new information. According To Plasencia team member Ivan Orlovic – who was the original source of all three exciting updates – The Ehtefal reflects the Plasencia family’s love of soccer and is now making its way to retailers! Described as offering a medium plus profile and full body smoking experience, The Ehtefal is composed of a Honduran and Nicaraguan blend. Orlovic shares that The Ehtefal will not be sold online.
At this time, there is nothing new to report regarding the expansion of the Sixto’s lineup, however the Year of the Rabbit Limited Edition 2023 should be available before the end of November. Nothing has been disclosed about the final blend, but there are already online retailers who have created listings for the new cigar in anticipation of its release. Along with other brands who dedicate part of each year’s production schedule to “The Year of the…” releases, Plasencia’s The Year of the Rabbit 2023 celebrates the Lunar New Year – also referred to as Chinese New Year – which falls on January 22nd, 2023. In contrast to last year’s exclusively European Year of the Ox release, the 2023 iteration will debut in the United States.
