Steve Saka’s Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Expands International Distribution!

This update just came in and is wonderful news for all of us, good news for cigars anywhere is good news for cigar lovers everywhere! Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust® (DTT) has added Uniflame, SA in Greece to its steadily growing list of international distribution partners. “For us the focus has always been the cigars first and if we did that right, the sales would follow,” states Steve Saka, the founder and master ligador of DTT. “We arguably have some of the least aggressive sales practices in the industry within the US market, yet we continue to grow astronomically. So much so, we have been forced three times over the last four years to enact temporary moratoriums on adding new accounts within the US to ensure both quality service and product to our existing customers.”

Announcing the expansion, he shared that “our approach has been even more lowkey and slower when it comes to International Distribution, yet that network also continues to grow. Between the Habanos restructuring and our own growth trajectory, we have been receiving numerous requests to expand our international footprint. I am very pleased that in conjunction with our factory and international distributor partners, Joya de Nicaragua, SA, we have been recently able to add Uniflame of Greece to our distribution family.”

Saka has talked about Dunbarton’s growth before in a very candid way, giving fans real insight into the principles by which he operates his business. Just recently, After a VERY successful week at this year’s Premium Cigar Association trade show, he wrote  “…trust me, 98% of cigar smokers have zero clue who DTT or who I am. We really are just being discovered by many. this potential growth curve has me very freaked out… as we grow it just adds so much more to do and even bigger challenges and problems. I can’t possibly work any harder and I know everyone says delegate, but it isn’t that easy, there is a reason why we are different. Quality must always be first, so I am going to be forced to make some decisions in the near future that will upset some.”

“As you can see,” he continues, “there are many great places around the globe we have yet to expand into, but we have never actively sought out “new world” distributors. We simply wait until they express an interest and then we go from there – for me this is not a sprint, but a marathon.”

Mr. Saka also shared how much he’s looking forward to attending InterTabac 2022 in Dortmund, Germany later this month. “It will be my first trip to the EU in quite a while and I always immensely enjoy my time spent with our International partners, the team at Joya de Nicaragua and our mutual customers!,” he concluded.
