Limited Cigar Association Brings The Heat!

The July offering from the Limited Cigar Association will feature an extremely limited release from Purple Sky Cigars as well as a particularly special LCA Plus release.

Brian Desind, owner of Privada Cigar Club, describes the cigar being released via LCA Plus for July as “one of the most special cigars we have ever been a part of.” The cigar is called Delectados and is named after the fictitious brand of cigars that appears in the James Bond film, No Time to Die. Fans of the franchise will remember that “Delectado” was the code word used in Die Another Day when Pierce Brosnan’s Bond visits a cigar factory in Havana to activate a sleeper agent. Each cigar comes in its own coffin, and both the coffin and band artwork take inspiration from the actual cigar band appearing in the 2021 hit.

The cigar itself is significant for being the first release from the Tabacalera Diaz Cabrera factory. Desind notes that the owner of this new factory is “one of the most famous and recognizable master blenders in the Dominican Republic” despite the fact that “legal considerations” disallow using the owner’s actual name. “This is a cornerstone in cigar history,” says Desind. “The last few years leading up to the opening of the Diaz Cabrera factory have been met with a lot of speculation and excitement within the industry, and having the opportunity to release the first-ever cigar from this already legendary factory is a tremendous privilege.”

The cigar is a 6×50 toro featuring an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over Dominican Hybrid binder and Dominican Piloto Viso, San Vicente, and Seco fillers. Desind indicates that this particular blend will “never be produced again.” Delectados has an MSRP of $15.00.

Purple Sky Cigars is a more or less underground company operating out of the Southwest United States. The three owners Hector, Tommy, and Paul named the brand as a nod to the Blue Sky meth that Walter White famously develops in Breaking Bad. This naming is fitting with the trio’s background in drug scenes and prison culture.

Known for their micro-releases and usage of Mexican tobaccos, Purple Sky is teaming up for the second time with Privada Cigar Club to release Purple People Eater via the Limited Cigar Association. Purple People Eater features a Mexican San Andres wrapper described by the company as “the best San Andres leaf ever” over Nicaraguan filler and binder and was rolled at Tabacalera Cielo Morado in Mexico.

The 6×54 cigar is intentionally being released exclusively to LCA retailers at the same time that Privada Cigar Club’s fast-food themed monthly subscription box is being shipped to members.  Purple People Eater by Purple Sky drops at LCA retailers on Friday, July 1st and has an MSRP of $11.00
