Review: Villiger La Libertad

Stallone Alagan Review: The Experience

Quite a mild but flavorful journey of flavor! Despite a bit of a jagged burn line, it burned evenly throughout along those lines. Very smooth in terms of retrohaling with little to no bite. If you like a delicate smoke that you have to focus on for flavor, this one is for you. If you need to feel the heat and spice burn to feel alive, this one might be a pass for you. Mild enough smoke to compliment any food or drink.

Stallone Alagan Review: The Brand

The La Libertad has a Criollo wrapper from Jalapa, which wraps the binder from the Cibao Valley, located in the Dominican Republic. The filler tobaccos are made from Seco Jalapa, Viso Esteli, and Ligero Esteli, resulting in a blend that meets the highest smoking demands. The cigars have a multifaceted flavor profile that blends harmoniously with various flavor nuances. They have a strong flavor, enriched with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, spices, and caramel.

Stallone Alagan Review: The Body

A gradient brown, darkening at the seams. Well rolled. Light tobacco and milk chocolate notes.

Stallone Alagan Review: The Foot

Strong botanicals, pollen like notes, reminiscent of blooming lilies. Also a light earthy musk.

Wheat, grassy, vegetal, green florals

Stallone Alagan Review: First Third

A few puffs in and I am already greeted with mild welcoming notes of cinnamon with a honey sweetness at the end. Very smooth retro with almost no burn. Burning well with tight stacks but there are some sharp dips in the burn line, but seem to pace evenly. End of third a light milk chocolate note takes precedence with cinnamon + honey going to the rear. Overall still very mild and pleasant.

Stallone Alagan Review: Second Third

Cinnamon comes back to the forefront in addition to a baking spice blend of nutmeg, cardamom and ginger. A few puffs later a honey sweetness with light chocolate undertones battles for dominance. Eventually it all grows to a very complex smoke of the above notes with the introduction of tart dark fruits, grape musk and warm spice. Quite the middle third!

Stallone Alagan Review: Final Third
Those complex notes begin to blend into a note of juicy fruit chewing gum with an earthy tobacco sweetness. This continues for a bit until it winds down until that sweet but tart grape musk battles it’s way back on top. Eventually the sweetness fades and a lively ginger zest gains command. Earthy, vegetal greens and a bit of zip finishes it off.
