Final Thoughts: Wow. What an experience! I’ve gotten meatiness out of plenty of cigars, but this was the first time it was distinctively porky in nature. This was truly a flavor bomb. All components of this cigar worked together to provide a truly unique experience. The sweetness wasn’t too sweet, the spiciness wasn’t too spicy and they mingled perfectly on the palate. The draw was perfect, but the burn was a bit troublesome. It got very close to the point of needing touch up, but managed to correct itself. Sweet, salty, chocolaty, spicy, black pepper and bacon; need I say more?
Pairing Recommendations: BACON (I bet you saw that coming), Prosciutto, any Stout Beer (I’ve had bacon stouts in the past and that would be perfect), While grilling/smoking meats, Miller Lite, Rye or Bourbon, Pepsi, Apple Brandy, Any Red Wine, Hard Cider, after a pulled pork sandwich.

After having their made crafted at factories like Tabacalera Las Lavas and Fabrica Oveja Negra, cigar brand Veritas Cigars made the move to their own factory. Founded in 2011, Chris Weber helped to establish the company’s footing among enthusiasts from the very start. After taking over in 2016 Weber would open Tabacalera Nuevo Nica, where Veritas Cigars are made today.

Before light up, I can’t help but admire how beautiful the wrapper of this cigar is. It is almost two-toned, milk chocolate colored with splotches of a nearly black color. Right off the bat, I’m getting a sweet thick smoke. Sweetness, earth and a nice red pepper spice mingle across my palate. Retrohale is providing a perfect black pepper with a hint of sweetness. The burn hasn’t been great, but without touch up it has corrected itself just as I transition into the second third.
The second third starts off with the spice becoming more prominent and the sweetness dialing back. I’m getting a nice thick molasses note and a meatiness. There’s a nice undertone of chocolate that’s providing a beautiful layer of flavors. It’s worth noting that the smoke output and draw has been perfect.
The final third is introducing a saltiness, that’s actually very pleasant and not the drying type. This with the meatiness (which is more on the porky side) and molasses really gives me some bacon vibes. You’ll have to let me know if I’m crazy, but I’m picking up some bacon in this cigar and I love it. The burn has started to canoe on me a bit, but again it corrected itself without touch up. As the final third comes to close the chocolate picks back up, with a heavy dose of earth and leather. The retrohale has maintained a perfect dose of black pepper throughout the entirety of the smoke.
