On the latest episode of the weekly Fuente & Meerapfel Present: Meet the Professor podcast, the hosts welcomed the new Director of Content for the Premium Cigar Association, and host of the Deep Cuts Live show, Antoine Reid. The Professor himself, Jose Blanco, is joined by other regula hosts Jeremiah Meerapfel, Melanie Sisco, and Rich Myberg. Show regular Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr. was celebrating his birthday and did not appear at the start of the show. Confident that Fuente will see the replay, if he wasn’t already tuning in, Meerapfel led an entertaining rendition of “Happy Birthday” with Sisco and Blanco before introducing Reid.
Especially for those of us who have only become interested in cigars in the past few years, there are chapters upon chapters of amazing stories from entire eras within the cigar industry that we simply weren’t around for. As part of the more than hour-long program, you’ll be taken on a journey from Antoine’s first position out of college all the way up through taking up a post on the front lines of the fight for the rights of premium cigar buyers, sellers, and makers. Reid reveals the interview he was most nervous about, details what his new duties are as the Association’s chief storyteller, and teases some of what attendees can expect at this year’s trade show in Las Vegas. Fuente does join briefly near the end, from the cabin of an airplane.
