If you are reading this, then it’s a great possibility that your “old man” enjoys a cigar every now and then. He may be the dad who enjoys one a month or even one or more a day.  Here are a few cigar ideas that will have him thinking about you every time he lights up.

With so many cigars out there it’s hard to pick just one cigar that your Dad may like and unless you know exactly what his flavor profile its easy to get lost when going to a humidor. Today, a lot of cigar brands offer a 3 or 5 pack sample of their top cigars. Some are different sizes while others offer different profiles. You can find sample packs at most brick-and-mortar shops or online at most retailers. 

A Bundle of Cigars

The Honest Cigar Experience is a podcast based out of Tennessee. The host Chad and Tyler have a great time talking about everything to marriage, life, love, conspiracy theories as well as talk with and interview cigar brand owners such as John Huber of Crowned Heads, Matt Booth of Room 101 and Robert Caldwell of Caldwell Cigars to name a few. Every whiskey drinker has that one distillery that they go to more often than not. Those distilleries also tend to offer a range of expressions under their brand. Everything from their basic bottle to some brands having bottles that cost a couple of hundreds of dollars. My suggestion is to find out what your dad enjoys and then look for one of their limited or more high-end expressions. The Story Behind it All

I got my first knife when I was 10 years old, and I carried that knife everywhere. I don’t really recall a time when I didn’t have a knife on me, from that point on. I made my very first knife in 2017. I was given a piece of knife grade steel as a gift, the Christmas of 2016, and I didn’t want to mess it up. So, I practiced on some cheap tool steel. Needless to say, I caught the bug.

Soon after, I realized that I needed to come up with a name. In honor of my dad, I went with the number 13. It was part of his callsign in Vietnam. It quickly went from the number 13 to the Roman numeral XIII. So, XIII Knives was born.

My goal is to make the very best knives I can for people who get their hands dirty and need something reliable. I never wanted to make knives that just sit on a shelf and never get used. My knives are utilitarian – made to take abuse and keep a durable sharp edge in the process.
