Review: The Reinier Lorenzo LCA Masterpiece by HVC

This is not typically my kind of cigar it’s a little too peppery and strong for my palate I did enjoy the hints of sweetness and Cedar that popped up here and there that gave it more balance
Pairings: This cigar would definitely be my Doctor pepper or in soda or high proof whiskey pairing. The additions of the notes these drinks would help enhance the flavors of the cigar and may tamp down the peppery finish

The Reinier Lorenzo LCA Masterpiece by HVC (MSRP: $13.50)

Brian Desind of Privada Cigar Club and Reinier Lorenzo of HVC Cigars have once again joined  forces. Their previous collaborations have resulted in the creation of legendary cigars. This time,  they’ve introduced a duality of flavor experiences with two distinct cigars: one for members of  the esteemed Privada Cigar Club, featuring a Nicaraguan habano wrapper, and one specially  crafted for the Limited Cigar Association, featuring a Mexican maduro wrapper. Both blends  feature the same Nicaraguan fillers and binder grown by Aganorsa Leaf, allowing connoisseurs  who collect both blends to experience how different wrappers transform the smoking experience.  These 6.5×52 toros were rolled at HVC’s new factory Fábrica de Tabacos HVC in Estelí. We are  proud to offer this full-bodied, complex, dynamic maduro from HVC Cigars exclusively to LCA  retailers this April.

TIGHT DRAW, plums, raisins

On the Light: I get charred oak, mineral, spice on the back of the throat.

Into the first third I get a tight draw with a slightly wavy burn but lots of smoke. notes up front are a mineral earthiness, salt, black pepper. a pepper tingle on the lips in the back of the throat. the finish is long and peppery with a charred meat note. ash is flaky and holds less than an inch. smoke is full body medium plus strength

Retrohale: is red pepper and mineral

Into the second the draw has gotten a little better but still tight. smoke is thick, full and oily. Smoke coats the tongue in mouth completely. burn is slightly wavy but no touch-ups are needed. ash is flaky and continues to drop about every inch or so. flavors up front are coffee, oak, slight salty finish followed by an earthy and mineral note.

Retrohale: is strong black pepper, almond, and a creamy sweet note that short and fades into the distance. long finish still salt pepper and oak. full body full strength

Draw has gotten better than when we first started but it still snug. smoke is less thick but still heavily Coats the mouth. wavey burn but never gets out of control. ash has no changes. consistently flaky and drops about an inch every time. final flavors are a deep black coffee, roasted nuts, and a Cedar followed by a floral and creamy sweetness that is short in the distance.

Retrohale: white pepper, almonds, slightly floral with a sweet note. full body full strength. still get a salt and mineral note on the finish on the lips
