This a powerful little cigar. Definitely enjoyable for those looking for a stick with a punch. The heavier smoke and flavor suited me later in the evening.
Melanio Oliva, who first cultivated tobacco in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba in 1886, suspended his operations during the Cuban War of Independence. After the war, the family’s tobacco-growing legacy continued through Melanio’s son Facundo and grandson Gilberto. As Cuba’s political landscape changed, Gilberto shifted from growing to brokering tobacco, eventually discovering fertile ground in Nicaragua. Today, the Oliva family is Nicaragua’s second-largest grower of Cuban-seed tobacco, employing time-tested methods to make some of the most consistent cigars available on the market.
