Produced at the Luciano Cigars factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, Pichardo Cigars has become Tiago Cigars. Currently serving as an Assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets, the brand’s new namesake – Tiago Splitter – played 7 seasons in the NBA after being selected for the All-EuroLeague Team three seasons in a row. A member of 2014’s Championship winning Antonio Spurs, Luciano Co-Founder and VP Splitter is in the unique position of being able to bring what he’s learned on the court to every aspect of Luciano’s operations.
“You get a lot of opportunities after a career in the NBA, but this project, this dream to me is like coming home to people and a company I call family. It’s an honor to have my name as a brand and product I personally know to be extraordinarily blended by Luciano Meirelles,” shared Splitter. All of the blends will remain the same, with updated packaging expected to start rolling out as early as next month.
The Reserva Familiar line will also look a little different, known now as Familia Escogida – “Chosen Family.” Luciano Meirelles, Co-Founder and CEO of Luciano Cigars, explains that “It was a natural process for the whole team. We believe these blends deserve a worthy and upstanding name. Tiago is not only my partner, he’s more like a chosen brother. That’s what this rebranding is about: honoring him for the extraordinary person he is and elevating the family we choose for ourselves.”
