First introduced via their social media accounts with just a few weeks remaining in 2022, J.C. Newman Cigar Co. has started shipping their new Vintage Ashtray to select retailers across the country. While a few lucky winners were able to obtain one during the historic cigar company’s recent 12 days of holiday giveaways, this is the first time that these pieces are being made available for general sale. The raised lettering on the ceramic ashtray reads “J.C. NEWMAN CIGAR CO., TAMPA, FLA., 1895.” Crafted – and painted – by hand, the suggested retail price for each is only $50.
“I have created this Vintage Ashtray to celebrate the century-old legacy of the Stork Club and J.C. Newman Cigar Co., the oldest family-owned premium cigar company in America,” said Drew Newman, fourth generation owner. “When the swanky Stork Club opened in Manhattan in 1929, it was a place for movie stars, professional athletes, and politicians to be seen,” he shared. “The Stork Club was a place my grandparents, Stanford and Elaine Newman, frequented in New York. Every time celebrities were photographed at the Stork Club, the famous Stock Club ashtray was on the table in front of them.”
