The HVC BLACK FRIDAY has become one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year since its debut in 2015. This time, HVC’s Reinier Lorenzo changed things up more than in years prior. Describing himself as a flavor hunter when it comes to blending, he shares that this year’s 5.5 x 50 Robusto Extra uses no Ligero in the filler, only Visos and Secos. Much of the filler is from Jalapa with a small amount from Esteli as well. For the wrapper, he’s chosen a Habano 92 from Cuba grown in Ecuador. When asked about how he approached the balance of this cigar’s tobaccos, he explains that “the Visos are powerful enough to bring the cigar a unique body to this blend.”
This year, 30,000 Black Friday cigars were produced – and all of them at HVC’s own factory! Well ahead of the day they get their name from, 600 boxes will start heading out to retailers by the beginning of November. MSRP for a single Black Friday will be $8.50 or $425 for an entire box of 50.
