La Palina Creates Cigar For Accutron Watch Collaboration

The Accutron x La Palina Limited Edition Spaceview 2020 is the first watch powered by electrostatic energy. Powered on your wrist by a range of motion, this breakthrough electrostatic motor and turbine system drives the re-engineered Accutron and keeps the original fluid motion of the second hand.

Recreating the stunning visual impact of the original open dial design with the exact-same signature green accents, the timepiece boasts a brown open-work dial with signature Accutron green accents and brown outer ring, light green super luminous markers, hour and minute hands and warm yellow second hand. The matching strap is genuine brown alligator.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the presentation, for cigar heads, is that the watch comes enclosed in a handmade humidor along with a custom cutter, case, and 10 La Palina cigars.

There is a vibrant history of collaborations between cigar brands and watch makers, and this seems like a worthy addition to what has become a very distinguished list.

La Palina’s Accutron cigar was brought to life in Miami at Little Havana’s renowned El Titan de Bronze. We know that the wrapper is Ecuadorian Connecticut but the rest of the blend is undisclosed. According to the brands behind the partnership, the draw is said to be effortless, the burn even, the blends smooth and well-rounded, and the construction flawless. The goal was to create an unforgettable cigar experience for the discerning palate. The La Palina Accutron cigar is now available for you to explore for yourself even if you aren’t in the market for a new watch.

According to Accutron, the custom-designed humidor is 100% handmade by master craftsmen in the Nicaraguan region of Estelí. Selected by La Palina’s rare wood specialists and chosen for its exceptional figure and grain, all of the cedar was sustainably harvested from forests in Nueva Segovia, then slow aged for ten years giving the wood ample time to set. Each humidor holds a minimum of 50 cigars and includes an independent climate top with La Palina’s “ultimate perfect” seal to maintain ideal humidity. Other features include a recessed glass top with CO2 laser-finished logo and detail work, light espresso wood finish, a removable component for Boveda packets or other humidification inserts, and secondary drawer for smoking accessories.

In 1896 Samuel Paley opened the Congress Cigar Factory in Chicago where his first cigar range was La Palina, named in honor of Sam’s wife, Goldie Drell Paley. Today, under the direction of Sam’s grandson, Bill, the son of CBS founder William S. Paley, the new La Palina cigars are ultra-premium handmade cigars offering a meritage of the finest aged tobacco leaves selected and blended by master artisans, emblematic of the originals. Those involved in this exciting collaboration are quite confident that this new commemorative blend would have made Sam Paley himself quite proud.

Accutron invited Sam Phillips of La Palina Cigars for a great conversation that you can listen to here. The La Palina story is a great one full of obstacles and accomplishments and even if you know parts of it you should give their discussion a listen.

The Accutron x La Palina Limited Edition Spaceview 2020 has been limited to 222 sets and is available to pre-order now for $5000 each. Accutron expects to start shipping the sets in October.
