Damp Earth
Grass
The closed foot limits the cold draw, but a get a faint black pepper and earthiness.
The closed foot is a candela wrapper, so naturally the first few draws are heavy with grass and hay, but a ton of black pepper spice is there too. I love candela and am thoroughly enjoying the introduction to this cigar. Right as the candela portion subsides, a huge punch of black pepper on the palate and retro emerges. Zero complaints with the first third to report.
The second third opens with dark chocolate and a touch of meatiness. I feel like the grassy earth from the candela is still hanging out in the background and I love it. As the second third transitions into the final act, the dark chocolate really shines and becomes a bit sweeter than it was initially.
The final third kicks off with an uptick in strength and with that a healthy black pepper retrohale. Espresso joins the dark chocolate and pepper creating an amazing flavor profile. That early candela from the closed foot is still hanging around way in the background.
