The Limited Cigar Association has been releasing content all week in anticipation of the March LCA drop, now just hours away. Always the first Friday of the month, LCA day falls on the 3rd this month. March’s drops include the featured cigar for the month as well as a special LCA+ offering. As has quickly become tradition, this month’s LCA+ has already been made available through most participating retailers. The featured cigar goes live across the country at Midnight EST. Find out about each blend below, check out the March release video, and use the LCA store locator to plan your next cigar adventure.
March’s featured LCA cigar – CREAM Donut is a 6×50 toro from blender Hugo Endemaño at Fábrica de Tabacos Raíces Cubanas. Wrapped with naturally sweet Connecticut Broadleaf, Endemaño selected a Nicaraguan binder and balanced it all using Honduran and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos. If you’re curious to know for yourself what the LCA experience is like, they make a simple – rather delicious sounding – request: “Experience for yourself the rich, chocolatey, creamy, layered-with-deep-fruit-tones goodness that CREAM Donut has to offer.” The original CREAM line that these are a limited extension of has become somewhat of an underground favorite, marketed in-store only due to the brand’s hyper-realistic imagery. At a suggested retail price of $11, it’s not hard to imagine more than a few enthusiasts getting ready to obtain a baker’s dozen.
March’s LCA + is a cigar by A.J. Fernandez named W.A. Whitman. The fifth in a series of cigars inspired by the works of filmmaker Wes Anderson, the Whitman is based on his fifth feature film, The Darjeeling Limited. The catalyst for this 6 x 50 Toro is the journey of self discovery that the film’s protagonists – three brothers – embark on and navigate through. The Whitman’s complexity and unexpected transitions mirror the character’s experiencees while also presenting a flavorful reminder that a cigar cannot be judged simply by its wrapper – which is a Nicaraguan Claro. The binder and filler are Nicaraguan as well, with each layer of this cigar consisting of tobacco grown by A.J. Fernandez. Crafted at his Tabacalera Privada Annex, dedicated to Privada related projects, suggested retail for the W.A. Whitman is $10.80.
