Roma Craft Tobac co-founder Skip Martin shared some updates this week, kicking off what already looks to be another great year of cigars from the boutique favorite. The account is a fun window into the continued growth and development of Roma Craft. In addition to teasing a blend called Il Nonno (Grandfather), multiple formats of the forthcoming Intemperance Volstead 1920 lineup, and Powstanie validation, followers have also gotten a front row seat to what is going on at Roma Craft’s Award-Winning Fabrica de Tabacos Nica Sueño S.A.
Most recently, Martin revealed that a new cigar, pictured below – CroMagnon Aquitaine EMH ‘Frenchy’ – will be dropping this Summer. Halfwheel provided some insight into the interesting name, sharing that “Frenchy” is a nickname for John D’Oliver, a member of Roma Craft’s inside sales team. All this and we’re barely into February? Keep your eyes and palate on Roma Craft Tobac in 2023!
Forged Cigar Company has announced the March launch of Shady Moose. This release is the third in a series that has included the Chillin’ Moose and the Bull Moose. The new expression features an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper, Mexican binder, and a combination of fillers from the U.S, Colombia, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. In total, tobaccos from six different countries are showcased in this blend.
Brand Manager John Hakim expressed that “with Shady Moose, we built a great, anytime, anywhere blend that takes the smooth-smoking properties of a Connecticut Shade cigar and amps it up with the right amount of complexity and spice. And we didn’t stop there. We added in the cool Moose imagery and locked in an unbelievable price point. Now we’re waiting for Shady Moose to take a run at the internet, just like Bull Moose did last year. We’re ready for it. The question is…are you?”
Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust is a name synonymous with dedication, quality and too many great blends to be able to make them all on a consistent basis. Those familiar with the brand know that Dunbarton will not continue to produce even the the most popular of blends if it cannot maintain their integrity from release to release. Such is the case with the first entry in the maker’s new Archive Series. In a recent facebook post, founder and proprietor Steve Saka announced that the Todos Las Dias Thick Lonsdale will be heading to retailers this month. According to Saka, “each year, DTT will reprise one of our favorite blends or vitolas in a blend that we previously stopped production on even though it was still popular and selling.”
At the time that production originally ceased on the blend, Saka explains, DTT could not acquire enough of the raw materials necessary to continue. He did, however, obtain enough for this limited run. Each and every cigar produced has already been claimed by partner retailers, and the next run may not release until potentially 2025. The next project in the Archive Series is expected to be released at July’s Premium Cigar Association trade show in Las Vegas.
Originally slated for a December 2022 release, the Cohiba Spectre 2022 will begin arriving at retailers next month. In what more and more enthusiasts would like to see become standard practice, the names of the rollers and bunchers who produced these cigars has been included in the marketing materials. Two specialized teams of two were responsible for the entire production run of this 6 x 52 Toro. Roller, Ms. Carmen Carolina Toribio, and buncher, Mr. Bernavel Sanches as well as roller, Ms. Isabel Rodriguez and buncher, Ms. Rosmery Gomez, made every cigar by hand.
Limited to just 600 boxes, singles will be sold for a suggested retail price of $129.99. Accordingly, a full 10 count box listed at a recommended $1299.00. Paying special attention to the presentation of each of their Spectre releases, Cohiba has gone above and beyond with this latest packaging. Upon opening the impressive case, custom hydraulics raise each of the individually humidified, tube encased cigars up to finger level. The 4th Spectre since the series launched in 2018, this iteration features tobaccos from Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic.
Santana Cigars Co. – a new company started by Andy Santana has announced a collaboration with William Ventura of Tabacalera William Ventura. Launching in three formats, The Santana San Andres uses Mexican San Andres wrapper, Sumatra binder, and Dominican Corojo and Criollo filler.
