Very enjoyable smoke but quite mild in notes and strength…Even for me and I like a delicately palated cigar. Despite my listing of them, no notes really stood out as prominent. Very light but a respectable, easy going cigar.

Released in 2023 as an LCA Exclusive, the Malibu Rick is inspired by the the Malibu Cigar cigar shop and its proprietor Rick Loehr, as well as the “plastic fantastic” aesthetic of southern California. Composed of a Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper, Dominican binder, and fillers from Nicaragua and Honduras, the Malibu Rick offers a rich, full-bodied smoke, rolled at Tabacalera La Perla in Nicaragua.

Wrapper: Brazil (Mata Fina)/ Binder: Dominican Republic Filler: Nicaragua, Honduras
Factory: Tabacalera La Perla/ Country of Origin: Nicaragua
Vitola: Toro Size: 6″x50

Brindle with a few black spots. Well hid seams. Light flora and toothiness.

Faint pine notes. Hints of citrus and florals

Light earthy grains and mushrooms

A pleasantly mild retro from the start. 1″ in on a calm wavy burn line I get a light cinnamon spice with sweet & savory notes fighting in the background. This continues to the end of the third where it’s more of a honey sweetness with a prominent cinnamon spice followed by a light earthy musk and peanut notes swirling in the background.

More of that cinnamon & honey with a light pepper and mossy earth. Halfway in the sweetness fades and the spice takes on more of a cedar bite, followed by earthy notes and a slightly savory finish.
