Suds & Smoke: Busch Light Apple

BEER REVIEW

I mentioned early on in the Suds & Smoke journey that I am far from a beer snob. I enjoy a craft brew just as much as a cheap light lager. To be honest, most of the time I’d much prefer a Miller Lite to almost anything. With that said, today we are highlighting Busch Light Apple AKA Apple. This one has a huge cult following. Discontinued in 2022 and after petitions and near riots, it has made its return. People in my area were buying out stores entire shipments. I’m a fan of Busch Light and wasn’t a fan of the peach variant released last year, but could Apple really be that good? The answer is a resounding yes. It’s not too sweet and is still beer forward, but has a natural burst of apple at the tail end. Complex? No, but it doesn’t need to be.

My immediate thought for cigar pairing was something not overpowering and has a heavy cinnamon note. Tatuaje Black Label Petite Lancero was my obvious choice. The cinnamon and burnt caramel notes of the Black Label worked in perfect harmony with the Apple, creating what I would call a Caramel Apple Pie sprinkled with Cinnamon situation. Amazing is an understatement.
