Dissident Cigars on The Real Smoke Podcast

The Real Smoke Podcast with Charles and Mick latest episode!

This week on The Real Smoke podcast, Cynn Coburn of Dissident Cigars shared her remarkable journey. She opened up about her upbringing, the challenges she faced, and the winding path that ultimately led her to the cigar industry.

Cynn’s story is one of resilience and purpose. Having lived in multiple states, she dedicated much of her life to serving and inspiring troubled youth, helping them get back on track. She spoke candidly about the difficulties of that line of work and the emotional weight it carries. It was through this mission that she met her husband—though he wasn’t her husband at the time. A motivational speaker, he connected with Cynn on social media, and the two began working together to uplift others.

While Cynn has worn many professional hats (I won’t spoil all of them for you!), her journey took an unexpected turn when an opportunity arose to acquire the Dissident Cigars brand, produced at the Oveja Negra factory in Nicaragua. She and her family visited the factory, fell in love with the country, and made a bold decision—to sell nearly everything they owned, pack what they could into suitcases, and move to Nicaragua to fully immerse themselves in the craft.

Now the master blender at Dissident, Cynn’s style is as bold and unconventional as she is. She refuses to be put into a box, breaking norms and staying unapologetically true to herself. One of her most popular creations, the Molotov cigar, is a fan favorite, consistently selling out whenever it’s available. Each of her blends carries a story, layered with meaning and personal significance.

Cynn also shared her battle with an autoimmune disease that once left her bedridden. But true to her nature, she refused to let it define her. Surrounded by a circle of fighters, she sought treatment in Colombia, which has helped slow the disease and allowed her to continue pursuing her passions. Among those passions? Working alongside whale biologists and diving with these majestic creatures.

She is truly living life to the fullest, embracing every moment with fearless determination.
