First Impressions: The cigar features a light golden-brown, silky smooth wrapper with a
delicate texture. When held at an angle there’s some peach fuzz visible in sunlight. It has very thin veins, barely visible seams, and a neatly applied cap. The construction is perfectly cylindrical with a nice give when squeezed.
Final Thoughts: A solid cigar with great construction and enjoyable flavors. The first half of the cigar shines, while occasional bitterness never overpower the primary flavors. The retrohale brings a delightful depth to the overall experience. Not overly complex but far from dull. I would gladly enjoy this cigar to kick off my day.
Clásico Original was the very first Nicaraguan puro exported from Nicaragua, and the only brand to have ever been officially recognized as the country’s national cigar: It is currently the best selling cigar for Joya de Nicaragua in the European market.

The cigar offers a creamy, wide-open draw with plentiful smoke output. Flavor notes include vanilla, cedar, cream, and bright woods, with hints of salted cashews, peanuts, and Nila wafers on the finish. The retrohale reveals earth, damp woods, chocolate, black and white pepper spices, and leather. It has a light body with a slightly wavy burn-line that evens out and holds solid grey-white ash. The finish is clean with no off flavors. Overheating is a risk due to its quick burn, but the flavors are enjoyable and well-balanced.
The cigar delivers some cedar, cream, earth, and light pepper spices, complemented by notes of salted cashews, black tea with light sugar, and faint citrus. The retrohale shines with bright woods, damp earth, roasted coffee, cocoa, and occasional clove spices, adding depth. At moments I get some pleasurable chocolate and mocha coffee flavors. Both samples have a consistently great draw throughout. Toasted sourdough bread and a hint of bitterness emerge on the finish of one sample, while the strength settles at a solid medium. The retrohale is the highlight, elevating the cigar with nuanced and dynamic flavors.
The cigar maintains similar flavor notes with a lingering pepper spice and a longer, earthy
finish. Primary flavors include earth, coffee, and cedar, with hazelnut and cinnamon accents on the finish. It offers an engaging progression, picking up body in the final third, where earthiness becomes dominant. Not your boring Connecticut, it delivers a dynamic and evolving experience.
