Holiday Blends

Sure, we can celebrate with friends and family over food and drinks.  But what about the days leading up to the happy times, of guests, company.. and those uncles and cousins you never see… You know the ones, that complain about everything, drop food on your floor and kick it under the couch. And don’t forget the whacky aunt that insists that she can cackle with the best and not spill her red wine all over your white linen sectional!

It’s the days leading up to… and the after, when I look forward to sitting back and enjoying the true spirit of the holidays. With, the limited releases of holiday inspired pipe tobaccos.

As aromatics, some in the past have been on the more goopy and wet side, needing some time to air a bit before packing, lighting and enjoying… But this year has just been phenomenal for these beautiful mouthwatering and warming tobaccos.

From the smell of baking reminiscent of grandma’s kitchen full of cookies, to the hearty and meaty smokiness of the filet mignon on the grill.  The breadiness in some varying from sourdough to gingerbread. The nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom spices of the season tickling your senses and rewarding your palate.  And let’s not forget the more dessert style sweet tooth aromatic blends of sugar plums and candy canes. And when the evenings over, and the air crisps up, just as the flurries of snow cover the lawns… The blends of creamy hot chocolate and marshmallows.

Yes, there’s lots to be thankful for, and I suppose it all depends on where our priorities are…

So, with your mouths now watering a bit, I hope… here are some of the offerings available this season and where you can get them.

Jay Furman

After getting my first pipe at the age of 16, I’ve been enjoying the worlds offering of Pipes and Cigars for nearly 40 years. All that means is that there’s still more for me to explore, learn and enjoy. Born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island I’m a New Yawker’ through and through, but also have a craving for the outdoors. So, whenever I have the opportunity, I can often be found wading a river or stream with a cigar or pipe in my mouth and hopefully a trout on the end of my line.

My humblest moment is when I was honored with the 2024 award as “Master of Pipes” by the CPCC. If there’s ever a question or comment with anything you’ve read by me, feel free to always reach out through my IG @JFurman631
