Review: Blackened S84 Shade to Black by Drew Estate

Stallone Alagan Review: The Experience

The construction roll and presentation on the cigar were great! The first third started with an ocean breeze taste which was a strange way to get started, but the following notes would be enjoyable with a balanced spice, bread, and carrot cake flavor. I also enjoyed the size of this cigar making it perfect for a morning or afternoon smoke.

Stallone Alagan Review: The Brand

Building on the triumph of Drew Estate’s collaboration with BLACKENED Whiskey on BLACKENED Cigars “M81 Maduro to the Core” in 2022, Drew Estate proudly unveils the latest addition to the lineup: BLACKENED S84 Shade to Black. This new release, wrapped in a Connecticut Shade leaf, is now available and shipping to enthusiasts worldwide. The creation of these cigars is a labor of love between Rob Dietrich, the Master Distiller & Blender of BLACKENED Whiskey; James Hetfield, co-founder, singer, and guitarist of Metallica; and Jonathan Drew, Founder and President of Drew Estate.

Hetfield and Dietrich, in collaboration with Drew—a longtime friend of Dietrich for over a decade—meticulously crafted the blend for BLACKENED “S84 Shade to Black.” This cigar takes aficionados on a journey of nuanced flavors, boasting a smooth and inviting profile. Encased in a luxurious Connecticut Ecuador wrapper, this expression offers a distinct experience from the original, while maintaining the foundational qualities of M81, thanks to the Connecticut River Valley Broadleaf Maduro binder and the Nicaraguan Maduro and Pennsylvania Broadleaf Maduro filler leaves.

James Hetfield of Metallica expresses his enthusiasm, stating, “‘Shade to Black’ transcends being merely a cigar; it symbolizes our collective passion and pays tribute to the artisans who strive for excellence in their craft.”
