HVC Cigars will be debuting a brand new expression of one of their most popular blends at next month’s Premium Cigar Association trade show. The Hot Cake Golden Line will feature an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper and is being crafted at HVC’s Fabrica de Tabaccos HVC S.A. facility. The Golden Line represents the first time that HVC has ever brought a Connecticut Shade cigar to market.
While the shade used to grow Connecticut shade in the U.S. is typically the result of constructing semi-transparent tents over the plants, Ecuador’s Shade plants benefit from the country’s rich volcanic soil and natural cloud cover. The result, many experts and enthusiasts agree, is a leaf that offers sweeter notes and aromas than it’s American counterpart. Expected to be available late July or early August, the new Golden Line is launching in 4 formats. Packaged in 25-count boxes, the cigars will range from $8.30 to $11.40 each depending on the size.
