Atabey Black Ritos – the world’s first NFT cigar – was launched as a digital asset in 2021, raising proceeds at the time for Cigar Rights of the World. Now, the real life version of this cigars will be showcased in Las Vegas at this year’s Premium Cigar Association industry trade show. For at least this initial production run, the cigars will only be sold to holders of the NFT, and to official United Cigar branded lounges.
“Sometimes the tobacco I select has already selected its journey,” said Nelson Alfonso of Selected Tobacco. “This Ecuador maduro wrapper went on to the Atabey Black Ritos more than five years ago, now my journey ends, and someone’s experience will begin.” While blends from the luxury brand are largely undisclosed, they do provide a little clue to help you cross some guesses off your list, “the Atabey Line is made in very limited quantities in Costa Rica. However, they do not contain any Costa Rican Tobacco.”
Scheduled for release in December, The 6.125 x 55 Atabey Black Ritos will be available in a limited run of 200 boxes of 25. Wrapped using an Ecuadorian Maduro leaf, undisclosed filler tobaccos and distinct Peruvian Ligero are embraced by an undisclosed binder leaf. This blend was crafted at Tabacos De Costa Rica, the factory and family featured extensively in Privada Cigar Club’s video series of the same name from earlier this year.
Blends from the Selected Tobacco portfolio can be found at Privada Cigar Club and other United Cigar Group retailers.
