Nestled within Oak Glen’s Historic Wilshire Apple Shed, The Drazin Family’s Oak Glen Tobacconist has been hosting monthly cigar tasting experiences since shortly after it opened in the fall of 2019. By May of 2021, word of these events had spread far beyond the walls of the 1936 train car that houses OGT’s humidor. The OGT Cigar Society was formed. That same month, the shop started streaming the tastings live for locals who couldn’t attend and for all of the members outside of California. On the first Thursday of the month, anyone can pull up a seat – but only those enrolled get to enjoy the full experience.
After first teasing the limited release collaboration with Chaffiot on Instagram over the weekend, OGT’s Eric Drazin shared more details with Cigar Public – “We featured the Robusto of Hear no Evil Cameroon in the first year and our membership loved it! Chaffiot not only have fantastic blends but they also fight against Human Trafficking. See No Evil is a rich, dark San Andres full of cocoa, espresso, barnyard, and spice notes.”
With such positive feedback from his membership, Drazin approached Chaffiot about creating a custom iteration of the existing See No Evil San Andres. The result is a 6.5 x 48 box pressed Lonsdale. About the special run, he said “I absolutely love the Lonsdale size due to it offering an amazing wrapper to filler ratio with a decent smoke duration. The strength and flavor is ramped up in the thinner size hence I wanted to create this vitola for a special smoking experience.” While leaning toward medium to full strength and full flavor profiles, the current members have a wide range of preferences that are specially catered to with each month’s selection.
You can sign up for the Oak Glen Tobacconist Cigar Society on the OGT Website to receive a 5 pack of an exciting new cigar every month. Members are encouraged to enjoy one live with everyone and then smoke, age or gift the rest.
